Stilly River Knit- Beverley Brook's Mitts
2024 Slow Yarn Crawl pattern from Stilly River Yarns!
Beverley Brook’s Mitts by Lindsey Spoor
Ben Aaronovitch’s Rivers of London series immerses you in a world where magic and crime collide (resulting in a special division of the Metropolitan Police). You also learn quite a bit about the history of riparian life in the London area along the way. Part of that history involves the “lost rivers”: about a dozen rivers that, over the course of industrialization and population growth, became open sewers that needed to be covered and hidden away. One of those rivers - and an important character in the series - is Beverley Brook. Her penchant for striking clothing and her advanced studies in environmental science inspired these mitts, which feature a winding stream motif created with traveling stitches.
